Live Music Events in Sun Peaks

Sun Peaks Resort

Summer in Sun Peaks flows with a steady rhythm of live music. From tribute bands to original sets, outdoor stages to open-air patios, music moves through the village and across the mountain. This is a full look at the major live music events planned for 2025.

Rockin' in the Peaks

Rockin' in the Peaks launches the summer season with two days of Canadian rock. The lineup includes Big Sugar, 54•40, Wide Mouth Mason, and Philip Sayce—bands with long histories of performing, radio play, and dedicated fans. Centre Stage, the main venue, supports large crowds while keeping the connection between performers and the audience.

Scheduled for July 4 and 5, the event includes food stalls, beer gardens, and easy access to the village. The layout is designed so people can stay on-site all day, with music running from early afternoon until late in the evening.

Retro Concert Weekend

The 14th annual Retro Concert Weekend runs from August 22 to 24, focusing on tribute acts and classic covers. It’s a weekend built on familiar hooks, crowd singalongs, and fans who know every lyric. Acts include tributes to No Doubt, Gwen Stefani, Bryan Adams, The Cars, Rod Stewart, and Metallica, along with sets dedicated to '70s and '80s rock staples.

Admission is free, and the stage sits slopeside near the base of the village. BBQ and beer service runs all day, with seating spread across lawns and patios. Many guests return each year for the same performances, and that sense of continuity is part of the appeal.

Endless Summer Concert Weekend

From August 8 to 10, the Endless Summer Concert Weekend brings a relaxed energy to the village. This event mixes DJ sets with live bands, capturing the end-of-season atmosphere. The focus is on keeping crowds outdoors and engaged, with a schedule that shifts pace throughout the day.

Concerts take place across multiple venues. Centre Stage hosts the headline performances, while patios and plazas fill with acoustic sets and DJs. Each zone flows into the next, so guests move freely between spaces without ever missing the music.

Alpenglow Arts Festival

Running from September 5 to 7, the Alpenglow Arts Festival closes out the summer. Alongside visual and performance art installations, live music plays throughout the weekend. The highlight is a performance by Jesse Cook on Saturday evening at Centre Stage.

Known for his instrumental guitar work blending flamenco, jazz, and global influences, Jesse Cook will perform from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. The rest of the weekend features a mix of local and touring musicians. Music serves as a connecting thread between the various festival events and installations.

Weekly Music: Friday Night Live

Every Friday night from mid-June to late September, free live music fills the village. The weekly series features performers from Kamloops and across British Columbia. The 2025 schedule includes LooPS, Paul Filek, Soul Patch, Whitecroft Irregulars, and Andrew Christopher.

Shows take place in the main village plaza in the afternoon. Many visitors grab food before or during the performances. Each week brings a different sound—ranging from acoustic singer-songwriters to full electric bands—ensuring a wide variety of music throughout the season.

Monthly Block Parties: First Fridays

On the first Friday of July, August, and September, the village hosts street-level block parties built around live music. First Fridays add extra energy to the regular Friday night series. On July 4, the Spice Girls tribute band "Wannabe" performs. August 1 features The Free Label. September 5 ties into the Alpenglow Festival.

These events use Centre Stage as well as pop-up locations around the village. Activities include games, food trucks, and patios that stay open late. Guests can move between areas, with music anchoring the entire experience.

Special Performances

Three headline performances help define the 2025 music season outside the festival weekends. Shred Kelly performs on June 30, Toque headlines on Canada Day (July 1), and Jesse Cook plays a standalone set on September 6. Each is scheduled as a single main event.

Shred Kelly and Toque perform in the evening on outdoor stages, with no competing shows in the village. This structure keeps attention focused and encourages strong turnout, even during peak summer weekends.

Where Music Happens

Centre Stage is the main venue for live music at Sun Peaks. As the largest covered outdoor stage in British Columbia, it supports shows in all weather. There’s room for standing, lawn seating, and nearby patios.

Other performance areas include the Clock Tower Stage and village patios. These host smaller sets during the day or between larger events. The village layout means live music is always within earshot, whether walking, biking, or stopping for food.

Planning Your Music Trip

Accommodation options include hotels, condos, and vacation rentals, all within walking distance of the stages. Packages are often tied to event weekends. While many shows are free, some offer early entry or preferred seating for pass holders.

Food and drink are available on-site at most events. Many guests arrive early to secure tables at popular patios. Parking can be limited during major weekends, but shuttle service runs between designated lots and the village.

What to Expect in 2025

Live music at Sun Peaks runs from mid-June through early September. The full season lineup is released in early spring and includes over 20 artists with at least four large-scale music weekends.

For new visitors, the consistency, easy access, and mix of events create a reliable summer plan. For returning guests, the regular performers and layout provide a familiar rhythm. Live music is part of what defines the summer season in Sun Peaks, and 2025 builds directly on that foundation.
